Memorial Stones, Our Nation's Past & Future

This coming Monday is Memorial Day and I was reminded how in Joshua 4 that the Lord instructed Joshua and the children of Israel to set up a pile of stones to memorialize the day that He had miraculously provided for their safe passage over the Jordan River. The reason God gave them this instruction was so that "one generation could commend Him to the next of His faithfulness and power towards them". It's a good thing to remind, not only our children but ourselves as well, of God's continued faithfulness and mighty power at work in our lives. And not only in our lives individually but in our life as a nation also. Just as the nation of Israel was supernaturally founded and protected, so too was and is the United States of America! Despite what ANYONE says, we WERE and ARE, at least for now, a Judeo Christian nation and it is up to us to remind not only our children but all others as well of this FACT. We also need to pray for and remind our children and ourselves that we owe a debt of gratitude to every brave man and woman who have proudly donned the uniform of either the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or US Coast Guard on our behalf! We need to stir up in ourselves and across this great nation of ours a huge dose of American Patriotism, proudly wearing the Red, White and Blue! I'll never forget the first time I went with my husband to the movie theater on base when we were just twenty years old serving in the Air Force at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. Before the coming attractions or anything else was played on that screen, everyone stood at attention, military and civilian persons alike, as the Star Spangled Banner was played. I remember the overwhelming sense of pride and awe as the Stars & Stripes waved across that movie screen and I felt such a sense of unity and strength. How I wish everyone could experience a portion of what it felt like to work on that base and be a part of that family!
I'm proud to be an American and make no apologies for it and neither should you. Join me in praying that God's supernatural protection and wisdom would continue to guide our country. We need to humble & remind ourselves that the reason this nation is so great and the best place in the world to live is because our God IS the LORD (Psalm 33:12) and this is what makes us different and admired the world over!
