During her freshman year of high school, her dad re-dedicated his life to the Lord and soon the entire family followed except for Kellie and one of her brothers. Her parents continued to pray and “make” her go to church with them three times a week and though she pretended not to hear, the Holy Spirit was working on her heart. Little did she know that the “PK” (preacher’s kid) of this church would one day be her husband. Tragedy struck her family in the summer before Kellie’s senior year when her sister, Dawn, who was her best friend, died from complications of ovarian cancer. At the age of 19, Dawn went home to be with Jesus but she left Kellie with an indelible impression of what it meant to be a Christ follower. During Dawn’s illness, she had a peace, faith and joy that was evident to all and God used this to strengthen her family and develop in each of them a deep trust in the Lord’s sovereignty. It wasn’t, however, until Kellie’s freshman year of college that she finally surrendered her life to Jesus Christ and has never looked back since!
In December of 1988, Kellie married Grant Williams and they lived happily ever after, NOT! Like most couples, Kellie and Grant experienced difficulty in their marriage the first several years and it was during this time that Kellie’s faith was tested and strengthened. During a counseling session with her pastor, she was given a piece of advice that she continues to give others, “Kellie, I don’t know what path Grant is going to choose, but what I want you to do is pursue being the most Godly woman you can and leave Grant and your marriage in the Lord’s hands.” Kellie took this advice to heart and the burden of making her marriage what she thought it should be was released. Galatians 6:9 (“Do not be weary in well doing for in due season you will reap a great harvest if you don’t give up”) was a promise that she held on to. It was during this time that Grant also began to pursue God’s will for His life and accepted the call to full time ministry and their marriage began to improve significantly. They are currently on staff at First Assembly Ministries in Fort Myers, Florida under the leadership of Dan Betzer. They have two children, Zac who is in high school and Paige who is in junior high.
Kellie has ministered to women around the country in a very “real” and transparent way encouraging and inspiring them to pursue the abundant, effective, spirit-filled life that God has in store for every believer. She is passionate about His Word and His people and desires to see believers walk in victory!
